Topic 4: Propositon: Life is a mere illusion and just like the world is a stage as we use it as a stepping stone for a showcase of our talents. Provide at least 2 premises or counter arguments for the proposition. Write in complete paragraph

I am sure that everyone of us used to questioning why do God created us in this world event thought it is temporary. Things happen for reason so I am sure  there must be a reason why we live in this world just for a while. World is just the place where people stop to gain  experience. In truth, you can’t see anything through the bone that surrounds your brain. Your eyes are not portals to the world. Everything you see and experience right now – even your body – is a whirl of information occurring in your mind. We are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There's no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we're the imagination of ourselves. (Bill Hicks,2001)

Many of us keep saying that life is an illusion. It is because we as a human being cannot predict what will happen in the future. "Tomorrow becomes today and today becomes yesterday. Future becomes present and present becomes past. What is all this? This is a creation or trick of the mind only".Life is a chance for  us to feel the happiness. Even though it just a for a while, we have to use these opportunity given wisely.

As a conclusion, I believe that things happen for a reason and we have to realize that what we have right now is temporary. Nothing last forever.

Topic 2: Women shouldn't be behind the wheel

Stereotyping is exaggerated generalizations associated with a categorizing system, they go beyond the facts at hand and make claims that usually have no valid basis. However, it is also something that most people find difficult to avoid from doing. So, lets explore your sense of tendency to make generalizations by expanding the following statement:
Women shouldn't be behind the wheel

Stereotype is something that happens in our surrounding. It is true that stereotype is something difficult to avoid. People usually categorize other people into group base on variety criteria such as age, sex, religion, physical abilities and whatnot. Unfortunately, our stereotypes of people from different groups are often negative (Hendrix, 2002). One of the example of stereotyping is if you are a man, you might hold negative views against women.

So I disagree with this statement "Women shouldn't be behind the wheel". Why shouldn't men underestimate women? Because I believe that everyone has their own ability. As we can see nowadays women can do better than men. Women can drive better than men, women can do work like men can do. There is nothing that can stop women because they have their own right to do whatever they want do.  we should be proud that our country treat women an mean equally. to be compare to Saudi Arabia which women are not allowed to drive. From my view of point, i totally disagree they did that to women. They suppose to give women freedom. Imagine that of there is an emergency where no man is the house. with who the women need to depend?

It is true that women sometimes are too emotion , They might lost control and tend to do something aggressive.  But i believe that with full patience they can control their self. They actually know what they are doing.

As a conclusion ,society don't simply assume women's ability in doing sometime. They should should change their mind that everyone have their on ability.  Stereotype can lead to prejudice which is not good for the society,

Topic 5: You have almost completed this semester, so, how do you view Critical Literacy now? If you have any comments and suggestions, please do so as it helps for the betterment of the course as a whole.

First of all I want to say Alhamdulillah and praise to Allah. I can’t believe that now is in week 12, another few weeks to go and I almost done with my semester 4. UNBELIEVABLE ! How time flies so fast. A lot of experience I had through this semester and honestly I need to well prepared for next semester.
This semester I've learn many new things that I never learn before. I found out that this subject “Critical Literacy” is quite tough for me at first but syukur Alhamdulillah I managed to understand this subject even though it took a long time for me.  I also glad that some of friends help me a lot to understand more  in this subject.

I would say this subject is actually an interesting subject because it requires you to use your critical thinking before you make decision. This subject thought me on how to not be bias towards the issues that happens surrounding us.  Without learning this subject I won’t be able to point my own perspective towards the issue.

This subject thought me to work in a group and think on how to solve questions regarding the topic given. This can help me to change my view with others so we can compare our perspective with others.

This should be practice not only in this subject but other subject also because it help a lot especially when involves critical thinking skill.

I hope I will use these skills for the future so that I can be aware with the current issues.

Topic 3: “If money were the only criterion by which a child’s welfare can be gauged, then a baby bought for as much as RM40, 000 on the black market would seem set for life. For money-rich but child-poor couples, it is small price to pay introduce a small life into their home. The cost is gilded, the blanket monogrammed, the college fund filled to the brim. All that’s wanting is a bun in the oven. And where there is a baby-for sale racket, money can indeed buy happiness. And after all, why not?” (NST, March, 2013) - How do you view above statement

Nowadays people will do anything for the sake of money.  Money is something that can change people’s life.  Some people said that they can do/buy anything with money. But there are the things that money can’t buy. So I would like to share my point of view about the baby-for-sale racket. I believe that mothers can’t bear to see their flesh and blood grow up without them. I do agree with the statement above BUT in a legal way.

What I mean is, it is not wrong to give your child to married couple who does not have baby. But they need to follow the rules. They must follow the procedure before they take the baby. It is because to ensure that baby in a safe place and with the right person.

I think that by doing this, the baby will have a better life in future. What if the parent does not have money to raise the baby? What will happen to the baby? So it is better to sell or in other word give the baby to people who can afford to take care of the baby so baby will  the opportunity to growing up well.

Another reason is, this can prevent from dumping baby. Some couple tends to be aggressive until they lost their humanity to kill the baby. Because of this unwanted child they kill the baby. They want to hide their fault of this unwanted baby. I believe that, if there  are people who willingly to take responsible to but the baby. The case of baby dumping because of unwanted child can be prevent, It can save the baby's life and also give the opportunity to the baby grow well.

Topic 1: You heard comments and maybe grievances from your seniors about Critical Literacy, but what is/are your expectation or hope for this subject as or hope for this subject as you just started

I cant believe I already in semester 4 now, how time flies so fast. I know that the subject is becoming more and more difficult. That is student life. Before this semester 4 begins, I asked a few senior regarding this subject. "CRITICAL LITERACY" When I ask them “Is Critical Literacy easy?” they gave me the first impression that this subject is a tough subject. Most of them gave me the feeling that this subject is requires you to think critically. They also said this subject urges you to read a lot and need to understand deeply. Unfortunately I am one who doesn't like to read. How can I survive this subject  ?  Seniors also advised me to do lot of reading.

The first time Madam Zariati released the first assignment, I realized that the seniors were not exaggerating on what they told me about this subject. I found myself having difficulty to do the assignment.  It took me a long time to understand especially how to properly do The Rule of 10.  I have to read for 8 times  to understand clearly about the topic. After I did a lot of activity with my group mates, I tried slowly to understand more on that topic.

I hope that I’ll be able to apply these critical thinking so it can help me to be open minded and avoid being bias towards a situation . I also hope that by learning Critical Literacy I would be more aware of my surrounding and not too quick to judge thing. Last but not least I hope that i will pass this subject with flying colors.
